Gifts of the Spirit

The responsibility of receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands”.
2 Tim 1:6

One of the most important things that we must keep in mind with spiritual gifts is our responsibility and accountability in receiving and using the spiritual gifts. If we were not responsible, Paul could not commit us to seek spiritual gifts (1 Cor. 31, 14: 1)
Although there is a difference in importance between the gifts. The Bible does not say that we should not aim for one gift and the other not. Our responsibility applies to all gifts in general. – “Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts (plural), especially that you may prophesy”.1 Cor. 14:1

For example, Paul puts the speaking in tongues in the last place (1 Cor.12: 10)
Yet, all speak in tongues (1 Cor.14: 5) Because edifying is the main task of the Church. Also in Acts, speaking in tongues is given to the whole congregation (Acts 2: 4, 10: 44-46). Everyone who speaks in tongues in the congregation must pray that he may explain (1 Cor.14: 13). Also, all should strive for prophecy (1 Cor.14: 1), more than speaking in tongues (1 Cor.14: 5)
But only one by one (1 Cor.14: 31)
Therefore, once again, it is common practice to pursue to prophesy (1 Cor.14: 39)
It is clear from this that it is God’s intention that we have all three manifestations (speaking tongues, prophesying and interpreting tongues). And we are all personally responsible. This applies equally to the other gifts, revelations and power gifts; the pursuit, so our responsibility, applies equally to these gifts. Paul makes no exception.

We see this also confirmed in the word, as we read, the gifts were imparted, through a prophetic word under the laying of hands (1 Tim.4: 14). By my laying on hands (2 Tim.1: 6). This is only once, then you have to pursue it. Some speak right away in tongues others not. The gift of prophecy the same. the only thing I can say – Practice. Let no one tell you that you have to be imparted over and over again also by other so-called spiritual gifts which names are not mentioned in the Bible. Never lay hands on for that.

The fullness of the Spirit is for every believer and every child of God is responsible for expressing this fullness in fullness, that is, through all nine gifts of the Spirit. Striving for spiritual gifts is therefore prepared and open to the various ways, for the various gifts, through which the Spirit of God wants to work through all of us. If we receive we are responsible to use it. We will be accountable for that. God has given us spiritual gifts to use, to use, to use this in dependence on Him.
This is evident from all the rules Paul gives in (1 Cor.14)

“Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.: 1 Tim.4:14

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands”. 2 Tim 1:6.
